Mars, Jupiter, & Saturn

Went out last night with my daughter and eldest grandson and setup my telescope in a dark area of town.

First up was Jupiter low in the Western sky. All four Galilean moons were visible but unlike another viewing we couldn’t make out the bands on the planet.

Mars received the least amount of attention. Didn’t look too red to us. Will have to check it out again this evening.

Saturn was the star of the show. The rings were quite visible and my daughter was amazed that we could see the planet as clearly as we did.

Afterwards we went home, set the scope up in front of our house so my wife could see Saturn. She, too, was blown away.

Happy Solstice
